Perth’s best schools for anxious kids

Find Perth's schools that are supportive and inclusive of anxious kids, as nominated by Perth parents and teachers.

When you are trying to find a learning environment that is a good fit for your child it can be really tricky.    In my humble opinion, there is no one “best” school.  Different kids need different environments. Getting beyond the glossy marketing material to understand what things are *really* like at that school is hard.

This school is nurturing and truly beautiful. Children are allowed to be children and learn at a pace that supports their development and meets them where they need to be met.

Bateman Primary School

“Caring & nurturing environment. Supportive teachers, learning support coordinator, principal, gifted education consultant. Whole child approach. Focus on child’s emotional and social wellbeing. Work with parents and want open communication. Never feel like a bother when I let the school know about my son’s current issues/concerns. I feel very supported by this school.” – Lisa, parent

Kingsley Primary School

“Go above and beyond to support students needs and learning opportunities.  Small school, small class size, great communication and teacher and principal involvement.” – Jennifer, parent

Sowilo Community High School

“Specialised programs for student learning needs. Communication, programs, student engagement.” – Jennifer, parent

Mary Mackillop Catholic Primary School

“The St Josephs Centre is a class for kids with difficulties. The St Josephs kids are included in every aspect of the school and regularly spend time in the ‘main stream’ classes and spend time with other kids during recess and lunch.  I have never met such a supportive principal who genuinely cares about not only his students but there families as well. I was supported through my mental health struggles and the staff kept a close eye in my child ensuring she was coping ok.” – Melissa, parent

Bold Park Community School

“Their teaching method is outside the box, my daughter struggled in mainstream schooling and has since thrived since moving to the new school.” – Katy, parent

Walliston Primary School

They have been amazing accomodating my child and their needs! Will go above and beyond to make them feel safe and wanted.” – Alexis, parent

West Coast Steiner School

“This school is nurturing and truly beautiful. Children are allowed to be children and learn at a pace that supports their development and meets them where they need to be met. Steiner education is gentle and nurturing and very child focused. The bond children form with the teachers and peers is genuine and very protective as they navigate life’s challenges.” – Maeve, parent
