This is a quick snapshot of availability updates that lovely Perth Kids Hub members have shared with me to make it a little easier to find the support your child needs.
ADHD, autism and learning assessments with immediate availability in Subiaco
Psychological and Educational Consultancy Services (PECS) in Subiaco currently has immediate availability for a range of assessments, including autism, ADHD, Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) and Intellectual Developmental Disorder (IDD).
The clinic has recently expanded its assessment team, allowing multiple children to be assessed each
week across dedicated testing suites.
One aspect many parents find helpful is that PECS includes a full ADHD assessment as part
of their SLD assessments, reflecting the high level of overlap between learning difficulties and attention differences. For families who have already completed an assessment with a medical specialist, PECS also offers ASD diagnostic confirmations, with reports typically finalised within around ten days of receiving existing documentation.
Parents receive a comprehensive feedback session on the day of assessment, walking through test results and checklists in plain language. This allows families to begin acting on recommendations straight away, even before the written report is finalised. PECS is a registered NDIS provider and has completed more than 15,000 assessments over the past 25 years.
Mandurah paediatrician Dr Michelle Howell has retired
Dr Michelle Howell of Nest Medical has retired from private practice.
Families with 12 month reviews due in February and March are being offered transition appointments with a visiting paediatrician.
Families due for reviews from April 2026 onwards are being asked to find a new paediatrician or psychiatrist to provide ongoing care.
Your GP is best placed to help you with finding ongoing management for your child and shared care arrangements such as co-prescription.
I also recommend regularly checking paediatrician and psychiatrist availability on Perth Kids Hub as I put updates on the site to make it a *little* less stressful for parents searching for a unicorn.
I don’t usually post paediatrician availability updates on social media as it can cause a bit of a frenzy. So the best bet is to regularly check the Pert Paediatrician and Child Psychiatrist Availability Updates page.

Clinical Psychologist Nicola Albrecht has opened up several appointments for assessments in February and March at her Growing Minds Clinical Psychology in Ocean Reef.

Occupational therapy and speech pathology availability in Scarborough
Families seeking therapy support may welcome the news that Sweet Spot Therapy currently has availability for occupational therapy and speech pathology. Based in Scarborough, the team provides support both in-clinic and through home and school visits across surrounding suburbs.
Sweet Spot Therapy’s team includes four senior speech pathologists and three senior occupational therapists, all with a minimum of ten years’ clinical experience. This depth of experience allows therapists to take a whole-child approach, anticipate challenges early and tailor therapy plans thoughtfully from the outset. Families are supported with practical strategies designed to work in everyday life, including for children with more complex presentations.
Paediatric respiratory specialist now accepting referrals in Perth
For families managing ongoing respiratory concerns, paediatric respiratory specialist Dr David Hancock has recently joined Kinkaya and is now accepting new referrals. This is welcome news for Perth families who have been navigating long wait times for respiratory support.
Dr Hancock accepts referrals for a wide range of concerns, including asthma, viral induced wheeze, chronic cough, chronic wet cough, recurrent infections and protracted bacterial bronchitis. Initial appointments are $401.90 (approximately $250 out of pocket), with follow-up appointments $201 (approximately $125 out of pocket).
Families without a regular GP can also be supported to arrange a referral through Kinkaya’s new General Practice clinic which is open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
Early childhood developmental assessments in West Perth
Neurologix Developmental Clinic in West Perth will be offering complex early childhood developmental assessments for children under six with identified developmental delays, with appointments available from late April 2026.
Early developmental assessments, such as the Griffiths-III, can help families better understand their child’s developmental profile and access appropriate supports early. These play-based assessments may include early cognitive tools, structured and naturalistic observations, and assessment of communication, play, social and adaptive skills.
Families receive a clear, individualised report outlining developmental strengths, areas requiring support and tailored recommendations. These may include guidance for early intervention services, early education supports, emotional regulation strategies and follow-up planning. Referrals are accepted from GPs, paediatricians, child health nurses, educators and case workers.
Free autism workshop for Perth families in Burswood
Positive Partnerships will be running a free one-day autism workshop in Burswood on 11 February for parents, carers and extended family members. The workshop provides an opportunity to better understand the diversity of autism, explore sensory processing and learn practical ways to work collaboratively with schools.
Many WA parents describe these workshops as reassuring and empowering, particularly valuing the chance to connect with other local families who share similar experiences. Places are free but registration is required.
