At Yay for Play Therapy Services, we offer a safe and supportive space for children to express themselves, make sense of their experiences, and develop emotional wellbeing- all through the power of play. Play therapy recognises that play is a child’s natural language, and toys are their words. Within a trusting therapeutic relationship, play becomes a way for children to explore feelings, build inner resources, and find new ways of coping and connecting.
I’m Emily, a paediatric Senior Occupational Therapist and Master's Qualified Child Play Therapist with a passion for supporting children and families in meaningful, evidence-informed ways. I draw on both my occupational therapy background and play therapy training to understand the whole child, their sensory, emotional, and relational worlds, while honouring the unique pace and process of each child’s play journey.
Play therapy sessions are child-led and relationship-based, allowing children to take the lead in their play while I provide a consistent, attuned presence. Through this process, children can safely explore challenges such as anxiety, emotional regulation, behavioural concerns, social difficulties, or experiences of change, trauma, and loss.
Based in Baldivis, I offer mobile play therapy services across the local area, including home, school and early learning settings. Parents are supported throughout the process with regular updates and review sessions, ensuring therapy remains collaborative and responsive to each family’s needs.
