Soul School is where your child will develop vital life skills to manage their own wellbeing and flourish into resilient, balanced, motivated individuals.
Your child will take part in wider community activities and build foundational practices to protect and safeguard their mental and emotional health throughout their lives.
This innovative program promotes self awareness, develops emotional literacy, empathy, a deeper understanding of who they are, supports their voice being heard and examines what makes a valuable friend.
Topics we will explore in term 4:
* Growth Mindset
* Failure is positive
* Conflict resolution
* Confidence
* Mindfulness
* Friendships
* Resilience
* Thinking outside the box (critical analysis)
* Caring for the Earth/Ourselves and others
We build foundational skills through the use of:
* Art and Eco therapy
* Mindfulness journalling
* Lowering anxiety and stress through breathing techniques
* Movement designed for letting off steam and emotional regulation
* Nature craft that boosts curiosity and imagination
* Simple herbal remedies and plant medicine
* Music for the soul
* Singing and song creation
Often we want life to be linear and organised.
In reality, life is messy and filled with experiences that challenge us.
To become EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT first we must understand our feelings and how they affect the choices we make.
To become EMOTIONALLY LITERATE we need to develop awareness of our affect on others, their emotions and the choices we have to pause, react or solve the problem.
There is no one size fits all to develop these skills.
In this program, we utilise numerous modalities to encourage each child to find their ideal support system and co regulator depending on the situation.

September 7, 2023 at 7:21 amOur youngest (Miss 6) started a day program with Kate from Wild Creative Australia at the beginning of this term.
On Fridays, instead of “normal” school, she goes to Soul School from 9.30am to 1.30pm at a bush space in Leederville.
While it’s been designed as a drop off program for home school students aged 5-12 years, we’ve been using it as therapy, without it being therapy.
The changes I have seen in Miss 6 in half a term are just HUGE!
💗 Increased strength
💗 Increased independence
💗 Happier
💗 More willing to open up and engage with others
💗 A new attitude of “I can do it” and “I’ll be OK”
💗 Pride in trying out new things and showing me what she can now do
💗 Communicating when she needs help or to sit out from an activity
💗 Confidence in making new friends
💗 Use of breathing and other techniques to help manage emotions.
And it’s not just me who has noticed. Her therapists, teachers and others have all commented on the changes that I truly believe have largely come from this amazing experience.
For $350 for a term program, it has to be the best value $ program for results that we have tried. And it’s a joy for Miss 6 to attend. I also love that it is largely young girls who attend and led by amazing female role models.
Miss 6 is super excited for Friday to come around and Friday is usually our hardest day pain and fatigue wise. But she will happily attend 4 hours of movement with Kate!
Soul School is a drop off program – so I actually get some work done in those hours which I am forever grateful for!
And while my long suffering hubby rolled his eyes when I said I’d enrolled Miss 6, there was no hemp or dreadlocks of any of the other hippy kind of things that he teased me about. Kate is AMAZING.
