School Holiday Programs - SeptemberÂ
School Holiday OT Programs
1. Lego Group ($210/child)
This program will run in Redcliffe and Success for 2 age groups (5 - 7, 8 - 11). Lego Group will focus on both fine motor skills and communication. Children will take turns in different roles, The Boss, The Supplier and The Builder. Before the group starts each child will get to choose a Lego Creation to build and on the day the group will work together to build the 3 creations the children have selected! Everyone will get to take their chosen creation home. Parents will be provided with a report on the session, including communication styles used in session and an individual strengths summary.
Please note: The older group will be building with mini blocks instead of regular Lego blocks.
2. Craft Club ($210/child)
Craft Club will run in both Redcliffe and Success and cater to 2 different age groups (5 - 7, 7 - 10). It will provide a safe, creative space to engage in positive social interactions with like-minded children and explore anxiety management strategies. Each child will be able to request a craft activity prior to the session and pick from a selection of craft activities on the day. There will be flexible seating options available to promote a sense of felt safety and to encourage organic interactions. Each child will be provided with a personalised list of strategies to trial at the end of the session.
3. Fidgets and Stims ($190/child+parent)
Fidgets and Stims is a one-hour parent and child workshop to discuss different sensory tools, the neuroscience behind stimming (at an age-appropriate level) and to trial a range of different sensory tools. Our focus will be on portable sensory tools that help facilitate engagement in stimming, along with considerations for personal safety and comfort levels. Some sensory tools will be fun and unique, and others will look like/be everyday items. Prior to the session parents and/or children will fill out a reflection on 2 situations they'd like to trial sensory tools in. On the day children and parents will select 2 tools each to take home and trial for those specific contexts, while also learning about sensory tools and stimming more generally.
All groups will be capped at 3 children per group and will be facilitated in a low demand context that prioritises regulation. There will be sensory tools, and spaces to retreat to available at all groups.
