What To Expect

Initial Assessment

Your first session is a comprehensive assessment lasting at least one hour. This includes understanding your child’s development, identifying strengths and challenges, setting goals together and creating a clear plan for therapy. You will also receive practical strategies to start using straight away.

Ongoing Sessions

Sessions are tailored to your child and your family’s needs. Therapy builds on everyday routines such as play, movement and daily activities to maximise opportunities for practice and progress.

Who Early Moves Supports

Babies and infants

Support for early movement development, including guidance with handling, positioning and play.
Experience with plagiocephaly and torticollis.

Toddlers and young children

Support for developmental delay, hypermobility, gross motor skills and participation in play.

Neurodivergent children

Support for movement, coordination and participation for children with diverse learning and developmental profiles. Sessions focus on building confidence, body awareness and engagement in daily activities.

School-aged children and teens

Support with strength, agility, fitness and motor coordination to help children participate more comfortably in school, sport and everyday life.

Meet Melanie Capper Physiotherapist

Melanie is an experienced paediatric physiotherapist with a strong background in early intervention and community-based support.

She graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in 2006 and began her career with Therapy Focus. She later worked internationally in Indonesia supporting inclusive education for women with disabilities.

Back in Western Australia, Melanie worked as a Senior Physiotherapist with Child Development Services for six years, followed by roles in early childhood early intervention and NDIS services with Wanslea.

Melanie is the principal practitioner at Early Moves Physiotherapy, providing mobile services that support children in their places of play and daily life.

She has completed additional training across paediatric conditions, musculoskeletal and neurological physiotherapy, continence, observation skills, leadership and coaching.

Early intervention can support long term outcomes by building strong foundations for movement and participation.
