Parent workshop: managing meltdowns with calm & connection

    Description

Learn how to navigate your child’s big emotions with calm and confidence

On-demand online workshop for parents of toddlers to primary-aged children. Learn practical tools, scripts, and strategies to support calm, connected parenting during meltdowns and big feelings.

Most parenting tips are about stopping behaviour.  This on-demand video workshop is about understanding behaviour so you can respond in a way that meets your child’s needs and helps them build lifelong emotional skills.

    You’ll discover how to:

    • Reduce the intensity and frequency of meltdowns
    • Strengthen trust and connection with your child
    • Stay calm and grounded even in the heat of the moment
    • Create a home environment that supports emotional regulation

    Picture this

You pick your child up from school.

Instead of bracing for the after-school explosion, you understand their overwhelm, respond with confidence, and help them settle — without shouting, threats, or guilt.

    You feel equipped.

    You feel calm.

    You feel connected.

    What’s included

    • On-demand video workshop — lifetime access
    • Printable guides to help you apply the strategies immediately
    • Sensory needs overview from our OT guest speaker
    • Ready-to-use language scripts for tricky moments
    • Unlimited replays so you can revisit whenever you need a refresh

    Who this is for

This workshop is perfect if you’re:

    • A parent of a toddler, preschooler, or primary-aged child
    • Navigating sensory needs, anxiety, or neurodiversity
    • Wanting to replace yelling, punishment, and power struggles with calm connection
    • Ready to feel more confident in your parenting — even on hard days

    About your host

I’m Evonne — child and family Social worker, mum, and fierce believer that children aren’t giving us a hard time… they’re having a hard time.

For years, I’ve supported families in my Perth practice to go from chaos and frustration to calm, connection, and confidence. This workshop distills my most-requested strategies into one powerful, practical training you can revisit whenever you need it.

    Your child’s behaviour is communication.

Once you understand the message, you can respond with calm, compassion, and confidence.

Evonne Jones, Social Worker & Play Therapist

    Bio

I am a qualified Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist, with 20 years experience supporting children and families in the government sector, both in WA and the UK, and through my Perth-based private practice. My roles have included working directly with families, and training other professionals in this work.

I’m passionate about supporting children and families to live their best lives, and I’m here to support your child’s path to emotional wellbeing through Child-Centred Play Therapy, advocacy and providing a caring space for healing and growth.

As a Social Worker, I am guided by professional standards and ethics, and I am able to provide advocacy support for families within school settings. This ensures the highest quality and consistency of care and support for your child.

I am a member of the AASW (Australian Association of Social Workers) and APTA (Australian Play Therapy Association). I am also an AutPlay Certified Therapist.

AutPlay is a neurodiversity affirming framework for play therapy, designed to help each child and play therapist to appropriately support the mental health needs of neurodivergent children between the ages of 3-18 (including autistic children, those with ADHD, social anxiety, sensory differences, learning differences, and developmental and physical disabilities).

I work with a variety of social, emotional and behavioural challenges including:

    • Anxiety
    • Adoption
    • Trauma
    • ADHD and Autism
    • Selective mutism
    • Behavioural and emotional issues
    • Family separation
    • Social difficulties
    • Difficulties with self regulation
    • Difficulty engaging in other therapies

My approach is all about putting your child at the centre of care, focusing on their individual needs and wellbeing. Working closely with you, we’ll draw on the resources of Play Therapy to support your child’s growth and flourishing.

You do not need a referral to access our services, however if you are interested in Medicare rebates, please speak with your GP. For more information about fees and rebates, please contact us.

Additionally, I offer Professional Supervision and Social Work Consults for Social Workers and Play Therapists looking to enhance their practice.
