Pollen + Occupational Therapy
Paediatric Occupational Therapy | North Perth
You might be here because something about your child feels harder than it should — even though you know how capable they are.
Maybe school is exhausting for them.
Maybe emotions run big, transitions are difficult, or everyday tasks take more effort than anyone realises.
Perhaps your child doesn’t quite fit the usual boxes, and you’re looking for someone who can see the whole picture rather than just a diagnosis.
At Pollen + Occupational Therapy, that understanding is where therapy begins.
I’m Emma Staples, a senior paediatric Occupational Therapist with over 25 years of experience working alongside children, teenagers, and families. When you come to Pollen + OT, you work directly with me — providing continuity of care and the reassurance of having an experienced clinician who truly gets to know your child over time.
Many families seek support here after feeling that previous approaches haven’t fully captured their child’s needs. I work particularly with:
• neurodivergent children and teens, including girls and high-masking presentations
• children with PDA profiles or complex emotional regulation needs
• young people who feel overwhelmed by school demands
• children with developmental differences affecting participation and confidence
• upper limb challenges, hand function differences, and limb differences
• hypermobility and complex physical presentations
• children who simply don’t fit neatly into standard therapy models
My work combines comprehensive assessment, practical strategies, and collaborative problem-solving so that therapy makes sense in real life — at home, at school, and in the community.
Families often come to Pollen + OT for:
• complex occupational therapy assessment and Functional Capacity Assessments (NDIS)
• emotional regulation and nervous system support
• executive functioning and school participation
• hand therapy and upper limb function
• primitive reflex integration and motor development
• parent coaching and support navigating systems
• diagnostic clarification when things feel unclear
The approach is neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, and relationship-based, recognising that children do well when they feel understood, safe, and supported — not fixed.
Appointments are available in the North Perth clinic, as well as through school visits, home visits, telehealth, and parent coaching.
If you’re looking for experienced guidance, thoughtful assessment, and therapy that meets your child exactly where they are, you’re very welcome at Pollen + Occupational Therapy.
Emma Staples is a highly experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist with over 25 years of clinical practice across developmental, neurodivergent, medical, and complex psychosocial presentations. Emma brings advanced clinical reasoning, comprehensive functional assessment, and a systems-informed perspective that integrates the child, family, school, and broader support team. Her work is grounded in neuroaffirming and trauma-informed practice, with particular expertise in complex assessment, Functional Capacity Assessments, emotional regulation, executive functioning, upper limb and hand therapy, hypermobility, and diagnostic clarification.
