Born and raised in Perth, Ryan studied medicine at the University of Western Australia. After commencing his orthopaedic training in Victoria, he returned to Western Australia to complete his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2013. Subsequently, Ryan undertook two additional years of subspecialty training in paediatrics and arthroscopic surgery.

Ryan’s interest in paediatrics led him to complete the internationally recognised paediatric fellowship at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
