Inspire Wonder Psychology

We conduct comprehensive psycho-educational assessments for children and adolescents, who are experiencing difficulties in their learning and/or have concerns with their academic progress.

We also provide evidence-based interventions to support children and their families with a range of behavioural, social, and emotional concerns. In particular, we provide Child Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) to children from 3 to 10 years of age.

For older children, play can foster a supportive therapeutic relationship, and often play-based approaches are used through the therapy process.

Referral information

A doctor’s referral is not necessary to access counselling / play therapy services, or for psycho-educational assessments.

However, for individuals seeking a Medicare rebate, a referral from your General Practitioner (GP) is required via the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. A Mental Health Treatment Plan is prepared by your GP, which allows for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 counselling sessions per calendar year. The Medicare rebate does not apply for the initial parent consultation.

If you are not eligible for a Medicare rebate, some private health insurers offer a rebate, depending on your level of cover. You may wish to contact your insurer to enquire whether you can claim for psychology services through your private health insurance ancillary cover.

Medicare or private health insurance funds typically do not offer a rebate for psychological assessments. Please contact us to discuss your child's needs and the associated fees.
