Lisa Zilko has worked as a Clinical Psychologist with adults, children, adolescents, parents and caregivers for over 20 years. Her skills and knowledge have been developed through working at critical Western Australian services including Princess Margaret Hospital for Children (PMH), community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), Child Protection Unit Therapy Service at the Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) and in Private Practice.
As a Clinical Psychologist, Lisa worked in providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions in children in community settings both in rural areas such as Esperance, and closer to Perth in, Mandurah and Rockingham. Lisa worked in these settings and has developed programs to provide a specialised intervention for youth with eating disorders, depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. She co-ordinated Family Therapy Reflective teams in the CAMHS clinics. Lisa has also ran groups for depression, anxiety, and trauma with children. Programs implemented include the FRIENDS, Sexual Abuse Treatment Program, Psycho-educational programs for Non-offending Parents, Protective Behaviours and the Alert Program.
In 2012, Lisa began to specialise in providing therapy for adults, children and their families who have experienced trauma relating to neglect, physical, sexual and emotional abuse at the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children now known as Perth Children’s Hospital. It is here where Lisa developed a specialised interest and passion for working with families and developing her skills in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). EMDR intervention is what she specifically focused on in her private practice while working with Adults, Adolescents and Children.
Lisa has been registered since 2001 with the Psychology Board of Australia and has an endorsed area of practice in Clinical Psychology by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation (AHPR). She is a member of the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA) and the Institute of Clinical Psychologists (ICP). She has trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Behavioural therapy techniques. Lisa has continued further education in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutic developed by Dr Bruce Perry, Famly Therapy, Circle of Security, Narrative Therapy, DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) and EMDR.
