Specialist Medical Clinic with Medical and Nurse Practitioners trained in complex patient needs, mental health including ASD & ADHD support and mangement, fertility and pregnancy problems, allergies, chronic pain and workplace injury.
We offer a comprehensive affordable service in the primary health care setting and have face-to-face and Telehealth services for urgent access to stimulant medications prescribed by child and adolescent psychiatrists and monitored by our clinicians
Step 1: Ring the clinic to book and ADHD appointment - let the staff know if your child has had a complete psychology assessment and work-up or you are starting from scratch as the pathways and costs are slightly different:
Step 2: First appointment with Nurse/Nurse Practitioner and GP to take a comprehensive medical assessment, address any underlying issues such as bowel, bladder, sleep, nutrition, exercise, screen time, ENT, allergies, hyper-mobility, developmental or speech delays, iron and macro deficiencies, gut health and more - this appointment is a minimum of 90 minutes: We explain the Medicare Safety net and ask you to be sure you are registered correctly - we also ask about parents and siblings with ADHD/ASD signs or symptoms who may also benefit from assessment and treatment in the same calendar year to save massive amounts of money as medicare will pay 80% of all out of pocket costs once a threshold is reached. Your out of pocket gap is $300 and includes two follow-up bulk-billed appointments:
Step 3: Investigate: Bloods, allergy testing, gut health check, ECG and if 16 years or older Urine Drug screening - all bulk-billed at our clinic (ECG must be a specialist read ECG and can be arranged by the pathology company and bulk-billed)
Step 4: Follow up appointment one: results of investigations, discussion re interventions implemented and results, medications prescribed and plan for the next 1-2 months +/- specialist referral. This appointment may also involve a mental health treatment plan (if you choose to use the clinic as regular GP clinic for the next 12 months) and/or GP Management Plan and team Care arrangement, to access psychology and allied health with medicare rebates.
Step 5: Second follow up: We now have either some success in managing presenting issues such as emotional dysregulation, physical symptoms of anxiety, insomnia and lack of concentration - or we are waiting for a Telehealth appointment for a trial of medications -
Step 6: (for those needing specialist treatment) We welcome you back after your two appointments with the Telehealth psychiatrist and assist with arranging therapy and treatments once your child is stable on medication. We will continue to offer you care and services with a 12 monthly paediatric review until your child is 17 years of age, at which point they only need 3 yearly reviews.
Please share this with families you know are waiting for their children to be seen. We have new clinicians commencing in the coming weeks and welcome new patients including an urgent waitlist which we can usually accomodate cases within 2 weeks.
