About
Fono Speech Therapy is a mobile speech pathology service provider, covering from Mandurah to Perth. We proudly support children aged 0 to 9, including autistic children and those with developmental differences, through affirming and strength-based practices.
The name ‘Fono’ is a nickname for Speech Pathologists in Brazil, similar to the term ‘Speechie’ in Australia. We provide services in both Portuguese (BR) and English, ensuring families feel culturally and linguistically included.
Our Services
Early Development (0–5 years old): Play-based, child-led approaches that celebrate each child’s unique way of learning.
Speech Development: Supporting diverse communication styles, including AAC, gestures, and multimodal communication.
Language Development: Building on children’s strengths and interests to foster meaningful connections.
Mealtimes: Sensory-aware strategies that respect children’s preferences and oromotor skills development.
Parent Workshops (Enquire now!)
We offer internationally renowned Hanen Programs® in both English and Portuguese (BR):
It Takes Two To Talk®️: For parents of children with language delays.
More Than Words®️: For parents of autistic children or children who benefit from social communication support.
These workshops empower families with practical tools while affirming neurodiverse identities and communication styles.
Autism Diagnostic Assessments (Accepting new referrals!)
We provide the allied health component of autism assessments in partnership with Occupational Therapists and medical teams. Our approach is holistic, considering each child’s strengths, sensory profile, and family perspectives, ensuring affirming and respectful outcomes.
Our Commitment to Neurodiversity
We embrace neurodiversity as a natural variation of human experience.
We respect both identity-first and person-first language, guided by family preference.
We foster sensory-friendly, flexible environments tailored to each child.
We collaborate with families to co-create goals that prioritize autonomy, joy, and meaningful participation.
