9/10/2023: Dr Karena Tansey recently joined the WA Psychiatry and ADHD Clinic and is accepting new referrals for children and adolescents. She is booking into 2024 and filling up quickly.
Dr Tansey completed 5 years of medical training at Newcastle Upon Tyne Medical School and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree. She has been working in the field of psychiatry for 25 years. After 5 years of specialist training, she became a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and worked as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist in the UK from 2007 until she emigrated to Australia with her family in 2014. Since 2014 she has been working as a child psychiatrist and Head of Service in community CAMHS for the public Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS). In 2023 she became the Head of Department for community and Specialized child and adolescent psychiatry.
Dr Tansey has an interest in neurodevelopmental disorders and complex mental health presentations including psychosis, PTSD, personality disorders, mood, and anxiety disorders. She uses a holistic family centred, approach focusing on empowering young people and their families to be the decision makers about their lives and recovery.
