Dezire Koh: Mental Health and Neurodivergent Counselling

Hello, I am Dezire, and I am a counsellor and mental health support worker based in Perth, Western Australia. I provide trauma informed, neuro-affirming counselling and support to adults and families navigating overwhelm, emotional intensity, burnout, and the impact of trauma which often explodes after years of feeling misunderstood, unseen, or like they’ve had to hold everything together alone.

Working at the intersection of mental health, neurodivergence, and lived experience, my services offers support that is neuroaffirming, relational, and deeply human. My work centres safety, somatic awareness, creativity and helping people reconnect with themselves in ways that feel sustainable and real.

I am also a mother in a beautifully complex, neurodivergent family. Parenting has been one of my greatest teachers, stretching me, undoing me, and reshaping how I understand regulation, capacity, and care. Through this journey, I’ve come to deeply understand the emotional load carried by parents and adults who feel like they are barely managing, while also supporting others.

My path into this work has been shaped by lived experience, navigating trauma, late-identified neurodivergence, emotional intensity, burnout, and the slow work of unmasking. These experiences inform how I sit with people: attuned, respectful, and grounded.

This journey has brought me here, to walk alongside people as they make sense of themselves, reclaim safety in their bodies and relationships, and build lives that feel more spacious, connected, and authentic.
