August 24, 2024 at 11:29 amBowyer Psychology has been amazing! We had a preliminary appointment first (Medicare rebated with mental health care plan) to establish if it was a good fit for our 7yr old with suspected ASD. We had that appointment the next day and it was concluded there was enough evidence to continue. Getting the appointment was only 3 weeks away so pretty quick. A 2x2hr assessment appointments were had with him and then a 2 hr parent assessment apt with us.
3 weeks later we had a follow up apt to discuss the findings of the apts and a detailed report (16pages) 3 days later.
Notable points:
These guys are Neuropsychologist not registered so firstly approved by schools and NDIS. Only neuro and clinical are accepted even tho registered will say otherwise.
Quick apt times.
Exceptionally professional
They have an in-house Neurological Paed who is also amazing. We saw her in less then 4 weeks and had a clinical letter ready for school confirming ASD and a detailed report outlining all the findings in 5 days! Our last paed wouldnt commit to even writing a letter and reports took 6mth.
Multiple conditions were explored all at once. ASD ADHD and learning difficulties were done in one shot. Who wants to do ADHD and then a completely separate SLDs/ASD etc. He was diagnosed with ADHD also through the process.
It was seamless from start to finish. This is a stressful enough dealing with complex challenging conditions so not having to worry about this part was a relief.
It took a week over 2mths from the first apt to the paed report confirming everything officially – that is unheard of in my experience!
The cost was mid range compared to the 15 other places I had reviewed previously. However for what we got I felt it was great value for money!
I hope this helps others out there as it has been a mission finding what we need and trying to get the support for our boy. Good luck x
Pia
