Blossom Care Psychology
Feeling overwhelmed by assessments, big emotions or burnout, and looking for a psychologist who truly understands neurodivergent brains and diverse cultural backgrounds?
At Blossom Care Psychology, Educational & Developmental Psychologist Poh provides neurodiversity‑affirming and culturally responsive psychological therapy for children (7+), teenagers and adults across Perth and WA, with accessible telehealth options to fit into real family life.
Poh is an Educational & Developmental Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPI), a recognised Medicare provider, and a Board‑approved supervisor.
With over 18 years’ experience across disability, mental health and education in both public and private sectors, she has worked extensively with clients navigating developmental and mental health concerns.
Early in her career, she specialised in working with autistic children and their families in family‑centred early intervention, autism diagnostic assessment and specialist positive behaviour support using a systems approach. Poh takes a systemic, whole‑family view. She collaborates closely with family members to understand each person’s needs and strengths, and to explore the factors influencing behaviour.
As an ADHDer and migrant Malaysian Chinese woman living in Australia, Poh walks alongside the individuals she supports in their unmasking and identity journeys. She is passionate about non‑pathologising, neurodiversity‑affirming support for autistic people and ADHD‑ers, celebrating neurodivergent identities while acknowledging the very real challenges different neurotypes can face.
Known for her empathic, compassionate presence, she meets people where they are, connects easily across ages, and is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
Poh is an experienced autism assessor. Following best‑practice clinical guidelines and a neurodiversity‑affirming framework, she provides comprehensive autism assessments for children, typically over 6–8 weeks.
Assessments include:
🌸 A detailed, structured parent/caregiver interview (around 2 hours)
🌸 An observation session with your child using MIGDAS (around 2 hours)
🌸 An online adaptive behaviour and functioning measure completed remotely by caregivers
🌸 Close collaboration with an experienced speech pathologist and your child’s paediatrician to produce a thorough report addressing DSM‑5 TR criteria for Autism
🌸 A dedicated 50‑minute feedback session to go through the findings, recommendations and to answer your questions
🌸 Optional school or childcare observation (additional charges apply)
Where possible, a joint assessment with a speech pathologist can be arranged so your child is seen in a coordinated way.
If your child is identified as having an autistic neurotype, they receive a copy of *The Brain Forest* (by Sandhya Menon) and a certificate celebrating neurodiversity to help nurture a positive, strengths‑based identity. Autism assessments are typically $1800–$2400, depending on what is needed.
Children and adolescents don’t live in isolation; they are held within families, schools and communities. At Blossom Care Psychology, therapy for young people focuses on both the child and their systems.
Poh offers:
🌸 Family‑focused sessions that use therapeutic play and conversations to understand what’s happening beneath behaviour, strengthen communication and foster deeper connection between family members
🌸 One‑on‑one therapy with children and adolescents, always tailored to their developmental level and interests
Rather than treating young people like “small adults”, Poh supports them to discover what is important to them, draw on their strengths and build flexible, adaptive skills to navigate challenges.
Therapy draws on evidence‑based approaches including DNA‑v, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), attachment theory, polyvagal theory, mindfulness, self‑compassion, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and play therapy.
Common concerns supported include (but are not limited to):
🌸 Worries or anxiety
🌸 Persistent anger or behaviour difficulties
🌸 Emotion regulation challenges and “big feelings”
🌸 Adjustment to major life changes or transitions
🌸 Social and communication skills
🌸 School‑related distress (including bullying and school refusal)
🌸 Grief and loss
🌸 Low self‑esteem and self‑confidence
🌸 Relationship difficulties with siblings or parents
🌸 Gaming addiction and technology challenges
🌸 Celebrating neurodivergent identity and energy management
🌸 Developmental trauma
For adults, Poh offers individual therapy grounded in contextual behavioural science, mindfulness, self‑compassion, ACT, EMDR and IFS Therapy.
Sessions support you to clarify what truly matters to you, make sense of your experiences and move towards a life that feels more meaningful and values‑aligned.
While therapy cannot change the past or erase difficult emotions, Poh supports you to relate to your thoughts and feelings differently, with greater openness and compassion, so you can choose how you want to show up now and into the future.
She works with a wide range of concerns, including:
🌸 Depression and other mood difficulties
🌸 Anxiety
🌸 Grief and loss
🌸 Major life transitions
🌸 Therapist burnout
🌸 Autistic and ADHD burnout
🌸 Neurodivergent identity and ongoing support for neurodivergent women
🌸 Cultural identity, migration and intersectionality
🌸 Parenting stress and identity
Across all services, Poh integrates contextual behavioural science, mindfulness, compassion‑focused therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory and IFS into a flexible, process‑based approach. Her aim is to help children, teens and adults grow in self‑understanding, respond differently to stress and live lives that feel more authentic, connected and sustainable.
If you’re seeking thoughtful, respectful, evidence‑informed support that honours neurodivergent and cultural identities, you’re warmly invited to connect with Blossom Care Psychology and explore how Poh can support you or your family through assessments, therapy or both.
