Learn to start a business workshop for kids – City of Melville

4 January 2025 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join our workshop to help entrepreneurs aged 8-17 build their business skills and confidence!

The event is for kids aged 8 to 17 with an early interest in business, sales, products, and/or services and those with passions and creative pursuits.

The workshop will be of interest to families who want to expose their children to business and entrepreneurial concepts, provide opportunities to learn the practical and social/emotional skills needed to explore alternative options for their future and develop their confidence, creativity and stategic skills

Skills your child will learn:

• Discover their passions & interests
• Creative problem-solving and empathy
• How to identify opportunities to improve their world
• Financial literacy, being good with money
• How to sell products/services
• Confidence and resilience

We also have a pop-up market participants can sell their products/promote their business @ Willagee Community Centre Sat 25 Jan 2025 9am – 12pm

ABOUT SELF MADE GIRLS

SHE BUILDS…Each participant creates their own product line or service business and starts their own business.

As examples for products participants can create fashion, accessories, greeting cards, stationary, soaps, oils, home decor and more. For services students have created dog washing, lemonade/drink stands, baking, gardening.

SHE OWNS…Participants learn biz skills such as branding, advertising, logo creation, marketing, cost and profit and walk away with a complete business plan and marketing launch plan.

They then get the opportunity to “pitch” their business idea to gain public speaking experience.

SHE EARNS…At the end of the program, participants host a pop-up store learning how to engage with customers. For Virtual/Zoom participants learn to make a zoom event for friends and family where they can show their products and take orders. Students keep their all their earnings.

Note: Parents are allowed to attend with their child.
